2008-09 Fordham Women's Basketball Non-Conference Schedule (.pdf file)

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham University head women's basketball coach Cathy Andruzzi announced the 2008-09 non-conference schedule today. The Rams kick off the month of November with four straight home contests and wrap up the month with a tournament in Cancun, Mexico.

"We are excited about our trip to Cancun as it will be an early test for our young team," said Head Coach Cathy Andruzzi. "I am pleased with the blend of schools in our non-conference schedule. We've added four new schools, Princeton, Bucknell, UNC-Greensboro and Central Connecticut, to our home and away series."

The Rams open the season at home on Friday, November 14th, as they host Princeton in the first half of a basketball doubleheader. Fordham then hosts the annual "Battle of the Bronx" with Manhattan College on November 19th, which will also be Faculty and Staff Recognition Day.

Fordham will meet NCAA participant, Bucknell University (Nov. 22nd), and NJIT (Nov. 26th) to finish their opening homestand.

The Rams then head south of the border to Cancun, Mexico, to participate in the Cancun Thanksgiving Classic. It will be Fordham's first appearance outside the United States and its territories in team history. Fordham will take on UNC-Wilmington on November 28th in the opening game, followed by a match-up with either South Carolina or Ohio University.

The Rams will then have five games in December before the team hosts the Fordham Holiday Classic. Fordham will be at Big East opponent, Georgetown (Dec. 3rd), at WNIT participant, Iona (Dec. 10th), and at UNC-Wilmington (Dec. 13th), while playing host to Wofford on Alumni Day (Dec. 6th) and Central Connecticut State (Dec. 22nd).

On Alumni Day, Fordham will honor the 30th anniversary of the 1978-79 Eastern Regional Championship team, as well as the 15th anniversary of 1993-94 Patriot League Championship team, where all members of both teams will be invited back to Rose Hill.

The Rams host the Second Fordham Holiday Classic on December 28th and 29th, where they will welcome Colgate, Norfolk State, and Bryant to the Rose Hill Gym.

Once the new year begins, Fordham has two final non-conference games, playing at Lehigh (Jan. 2nd) and home against Navy (Jan. 5th) before the start of Atlantic 10 play.
