David Kim, former assistant women's basketball coach and Director of Basketball Operations at High Point University, was named Director of Women's Basketball Operations by head coach Cathy Andruzzi it was announced today.
"David brings a diverse set of skills including coaching, operations, marketing and finance. His knowledge and detailed approach will be assets in handling the administrative day to day operations for our women's basketball program" said Cathy Andruzzi
Prior to arriving at Rose Hill, Kim served on the women's basketball staff at High Point University in High Point, N.C., for three years, the first as Director of Basketball Operations and the past two as an assistant coach as well as Director of Basketball Operations. As an assistant coach, he was responsible for assisting in the development of guards and post players as well as assisting in all aspects of recruiting. Kim also helped prepare scouting reports and analyzed players' strength and managed and tracked the annual budget while also projecting future budgets. He was a member of the 2007 squad that won the Big South regular season championship and received a WNIT berth while the 2006 team received the highest RPI ranking in school history (#87).
At High Point, Kim's Director of Basketball Operations duties included coordinating film exchange and all video operations, maintaining recruiting data bases and assisting with official visits and on-campus recruiting.
A 2003 graduate of Wake Forest University where he received a bachelor's of science degree in Analytical Finance and was a member of the Dean's List, Kim also earned a master's degree in Sports Studies from High Point in 2006.
Following graduation, Kim served as a Sales and Operations Intern with the PGA Tour Barclays Classic in 2003 before moving on to R.J. Reynolds High School in Winston Salem, N.C., where he was employed as an athletic administration intern in 2005. He then moved to Charlotte, N.C., where he worked as a Database Marketing Services and Research Intern with the NBA's Charlotte Bobcats.
