Fordham Baseball in the Minor Leagues - Update #2

With about half the season past, six former Fordham Rams continue their trek through baseball's minor leagues this season. Here is an update on their status and where you can find them.

John Mollicone - Catcher - Hudson Valley Renegades (Tampa Bay Rays) Class A Short Season - NY-Penn League

After posting a couple of game-winning hits early in the season, Mollicone was shifted from catcher to first base, where he has been a steady offensive force for the Hudson Valley Renegades. To date, Mollicone is hitting .291 (34-117) with six doubles, a home run and 16 RBI. He ranks fourth on the team in batting average and third in RBI.

Rob Semerano - Pitcher - Tampa Yankees (New York Yankees) - Class A Advanced - Florida State League

As a reliever for the Tampa Yankees, Semerano has been a reliable arm throughout the season, making 13 appearances and recording 12 strikeouts in 19.2 innings of work. In his latest outing, Semerano (1-0) picked up his first win in relief, pitching the final two innings versus Dunedin.

Cory Riordan - Pitcher - Asheville Tourists (Colorado Rockies) - Class A - South Atlantic League

Riordan continues to be a dominant force for the Class A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, the Ashville Tourists. After helping Asheville earn the First Half South Division title, he has made 21 starts, posting a 7-7 record with a 3.48 ERA. He also has 124 strikeouts in 134.2 innings pitched.

Javier Martinez - Pitcher - Everett Aqua Sox (Seattle Mariners) Class A Short Season - Northwest League

Martinez has seen all of his action out of the bullpen for the Everett AquaSox. Used as a closer in some spots, he has a 0-2 record with three saves in 11 appearances to go with ten strikeouts.

Tom Davis - Pitcher - Eugene Emeralds (San Diego Padres) Class A Short Season - Northwest League

Davis started his first five appearances with the Eugene Emeralds, but has come out of the bullpen in his last three appearances. To date, he is 0-4 with 23 strikeouts in 23.2 innings of work. Among his highlights thus far was a nine strikeout performances against Spokane on July 6th.

Eric Reese - Infielder - Midwest Sliders - Independent Full Season - Frontier League

The latest addition to the Rams' minor leaguers is Reese, who recently signed with the Midwest Sliders, an independent team in the Frontier League. To date, Reese has played in 19 games, hitting .203 (13-64) with five runs scored, five RBI, and three stolen bases.
