John Skelton Named Fordham Football Most Valuable Player

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham University sophomore John Skelton (El Paso, Tex./Burges) was named the 2007 football most valuable player it was announced at the 74th annual Block F Awards Dinner at the Villa Barone Manor on April 30th.

Skelton, who started all 12 games as a sophomore, led the Rams to the 2007 Patriot League championship as the Rams finished 5-1 in the conference and 8-3 overall.

On the year, Skelton, who was named Second Team All-Patriot League, completed 216 of 383 passes for 2,650 yards and 22 touchdowns. His 22 touchdown passes tied for the third most in Fordham history while his 216 completions is fourth best and his 2,650 passing yards is the fifth best single season total in school history. He also rushed for 275 yards on 96 carries with six touchdowns. He was second on the squad in rushing touchdowns and third in rushing yards.
