Christi Griffiths Named Fordham Volleyball Most Valuable Player

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham University freshman Christi Griffiths was named the 2007 volleyball Most Valuable Player it was announced at the 74th annual Block F Awards Dinner at the Villa Barone Manor on April 30th.

Griffiths had a successful first year at Fordham, earning Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors as well as being named to the All-Rookie Team. A three-time Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, she set Fordham freshman highs with 450 kills, a 3.49 kills per game average, a .324 hitting percentage, and 134 total blocks. Griffiths was the first Fordham freshman to record over 400 kills and 100 total blocks in the same season. She ranked fifth in the Atlantic 10 in hitting percentage and ninth in both kills and blocks per game.

Griffiths' 450 kills rank in 2007 as the fourth best single season mark in team history, while she became just the third Ram to finish a season with a hitting percentage over .300. Her 111 block solos on the year was also the second best single season total in school history.
