Fordham's Tom Davis Named To ECAC All-Star Second Team

June 18, 2008

Cape Cod, Mass. - Former Fordham University pitcher Tom Davis (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) was named to the ECAC Baseball Division I All-Star Second Team today.

This is the third postseason accolade for Davis after earning the Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Year award and First Team All-Atlantic 10 in late May.

Davis had a superb senior season, as he led the Atlantic 10 with nine wins and a 1.90 earned run average, while registering 62 strikeouts in a career-best 90 innings pitched. A Second Team All-Conference selection in 2007, the righthander allowed only 19 earned runs this year, and yielded just 79 hits and 28 walks, while holding opponents to a .235 batting average. Davis wrapped up his career as Fordham's all-time leader in games started (50) and innings pitched (339.0), while being second in wins (24) and fourth in strikeouts (205).

On June 6th, Davis was selected in the 16th round (pick #495) of the 2008 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft by the San Diego Padres. He was the ninth Fordham baseball draft pick in the past seven seasons, joining Cory Riordan (2007), John Mollicone (2007), Javier Martinez (2006 & 2007), Greg Smith (2006), Rob Semerano (2004), Bobby Kingsbury (2002) and Jason Conlisk (2002).

Currently, Davis is assigned to the Euguene Emeralds of the Northwest League (Class A - Short Season), which began their season last night.
