Katie Toole Named Fordham Women's Basketball Assistant Coach

May 20, 2008

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham women's basketball coach Cathy Andruzzi announced the hiring of Katie Toole as an assistant women's basketball coach today.

"Katie Toole's experience in recruiting Ivy League caliber students will provide us with the academic network that fits Fordham's profile. She was an outstanding basketball player at Sacred Heart, which will be an asset to the growth of our players on the court. Her New Jersey background will strengthen our presence in the Northeast. We are happy to have Katie on our team," said Andruzzi.

Toole comes to Fordham after three seasons as an assistant coach at Brown University. In her first season, she helped guide the Bears to the 2006 Ivy League Championship, their first in 12 seasons. During her tenure, she coached two players that earned Ivy League All-Rookie Team status, as well as Sarah Hayes, the 2006 Ivy League Player of the Year. Besides recruiting, scouting, and on-floor coaching, she was also responsible for travel coordination, serving as the NCAA Compliance liaison, academic coordination, and the planning and running of the annual Brown Classic tournament.

Prior to Brown, Toole had a two-year stint as an assistant coach at Manhattanville College. While at Manhattanville, Toole was responsible for all aspects of the program including recruiting, scouting, on-floor coaching and practices. She also received her Masters of Arts in Humanities.

Toole, a graduate of Sacred Heart University, earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 2000. As a member of the Pioneers basketball team, Toole excelled as an outside shooter. She finished her career at Sacred Heart second all-time in three-pointers made, and she also holds second place for three-pointers made in a game.

Following her graduation from Sacred Heart, Toole spent two years working as a management trainee at Cintas Corporation. Her responsibilities included recruitment and training of new employees, supervision of a 40-member production department and generation of new costumers through site visits.
