Fordham's Allison Twarowski and Jocelyn Dearborn Named NFCA All-Region

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham University senior third baseman/pitcher Allison Twarowski (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) and freshman outfielder Jocelyn Dearborn (New Milford, Pa./Blue Ridge) were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Louisville Slugger All-Mid Atlantic Region Team it was announced today. Both were named to the Second Team.

Twarowski, who was also a Second Team All-Region selection last spring, started all 66 games for the Rams in 2008, hitting .292 (66-226) with 14 doubles, two triples, six home runs and 36 RBI. She was second on the team in runs scored (46) and third in hits, while tying for the team lead in doubles and ranking third in home runs and fourth in RBI from her lead-off position in the order. In conference play, Twarowski hit .313 (20-64) with four doubles, one triple, two home runs and 12 RBI. She ranks third in the conference in total bases (102) and runs scored (46) and hits (66). Defensively, Twarowski led the conference in assists with 140.

On the mound, Twarowski compiled a 13-10 record with a 1.74 ERA. She led the team in both wins and ERA while striking out 103 in 160.2 innings and holding opponents to a .242 average. She ranks fourth in the conference in ERA and fifth in wins.

Twarowski, who earned Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors this year, received the Jack and Claire Hobbs Award on April 30th as Fordham's female athlete of the year. She wraps up her career as the Rams' career leaders in seven offensive categories, including hits (251), doubles (44), RBI (145) and runs scored (182).

Dearborn, a freshman outfielder, enjoyed a successful freshman campaign at Fordham in 2008, hitting .333 (69-207) on the year with 13 doubles, two triples, nine home runs and 51 RBI. She led the team in home runs and RBI, setting the Fordham freshman record for home runs in a season. Dearborn leads the Atlantic 10 in RBI and total bases (113) and is tied for third in home runs while ranking fourth in hits.

A three-time Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week selection, Dearborn hit .250 (16-64) in league play with five doubles, one home run and 11 RBI.

The Rams closed out the 2008 season with a 36-30 overall record, Fordham's sixth consecutive 30-win season, 11-9 in the conference as the squad made its sixth straight appearance at the Atlantic 10 Championship
