New Haven, Conn. - The Fordham golf team got their spring season under way this afternoon at the Yale Spring Open on The Yale Course. The Rams are currently tied for 17th overall with Rutgers and Iona, with a total of 27 teams competing.
The Rams have a total score of 304, ten strokes back of the team leaders. Drexel, Temple, and Cornell are all tied for first with a team score of 294.
Individually, Binghamton's Zachary Vinal leads the tournament after a two-under-par round of 68 on Saturday, while Georgia Tech's Paul Haley was the only other golfer under par with a 69 (-1).
Scoring for Fordham are Joseph Neydon, who is currently tied for 15th overall after a first round of 73, while Charles Sterken carded a 74 (T-28th). Michael Finocchi is tied for 49th with a 75 while Nico Mizono (82 - T-116th) also scored for the Rams.
Also competing, but not counting towards the team score, is Zach Murray (79 - T-95th).
The tournament will wrap up play on Sunday afternoon.
