Fordham junior Matt DiBuono (New Rochelle, N.Y./Iona Prep) was named Atlantic 10 Men's Outdoor Track & Field Performer of the Week, for the week ending April 27th, it was announced today. This is DiBuono's fourth Performer of the Week award this year.
DiBuono competed in the hammer throw at the 2008 Penn Relays on Sunday where he placed fourth with a toss of 193' 10".
Last week at the 2008 Metropolitan Outdoor Championships, DiBuono set the school record in the hammer throw with a throw of 196' 9", bettering his NCAA qualifying mark and former school record set earlier this season. He also won the discus throw at Mets (145' 4 ½") while taking second in the shot put (48' 3 ¼") to earn Performer of the Meet honors.
DiBuono opened the 2008 outdoor season by winning the hammer throw at the Towson Invitational with an NCAA Regional qualifying throw of 195' 6". The throw also broke the Fordham school mark of 190' 2", a record DiBuono set last season.
The Fordham Track and Field team will next be in action on Saturday and Sunday, May 3rd and 4th, as they compete at the 2008 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships at the University of Massachusetts.
