Womens' 4x800 Relay Places Fifth in Section

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Fordham University men's and women's outdoor track and field squads traveled to Philadelphia to compete in the 2008 Penn Relays where the men's distance medley relay placed second and junior Matt DiBuono placed fourth in the hammer throw.

The men's distance medley relay of Matt Lowenthal, Michael Kearney, Clifton Hilario and Tom Finnerty placed second behind Stony Brook in a season-best time of 9:53.56 while DiBuono placed fourth in the hammer with a toss of 193' 10".

Also competing for the Rams were the men's 4x800 relay of Hilario, Lowenthal, Brian Schmidt and Finnerty who placed third in their section and 16th overall in a time of 7:41.73 while the 4x400 relay of Brandon Ryan, Michael Kearney, Christopher Lyons and Schmidt who took third in their section and 42nd overall in an IC4A qualifying time of 3:16.56.

The men also competed in the sprint medley relay with the team of Lyons, Ryan, Ryan Serkes and Brian Horowitz placing third in their section and 34th overall in a time of 3:35.36.

For the women, the 4x800 relay of Melissa Salerno, Kerri Gallagher, Catherine Groene and Kathleen Reilly placed fifth in their section and 16th overall in a season-best time of 9:17.46 while the 4x400 relay of Dana Mitchell, Salerno, Groene and Gallagher placed seventh in their section and 73rd overall in a time of 4:02.47.

The men's and women's outdoor track and field squads will next be in action on May 3rd and 4th as they travel to Amherst, Massachusetts, to compete in the 2008 Atlantic 10 Championships.
