In their final tune-up prior to the 2008 Atlantic 10 Championship, the Fordham golf team placed ninth out of ten teams at the URI Northeast Invitational, held at the Green Valley Country Club in Portsmouth, Rhode Island.
Bryant University won the two-round team title with a score of 590 (295-295), followed by Sacred Heart (593), Central Connecticut (608), and Quinnipiac (608). Fordham finished with a two-day total of 640 (327-331).
Individually, Bryant's Jason Thresher won the tournament with a score of 142 (73-69), followed by Central Connecticut's Matt McClure (70-73-143) and Patrick Fillian (68-76-144).
For Fordham, Michael Finocchi was the top finisher, tying for 17th place with a score of 153 (76-77), followed by Joseph Neydon (T-33rd - 78-80-158) and Nico Mizono (47th - 81-83-164). Trevor Seufer shot a two-day total of 166 (83-83), tying for 48th with Charles Sterken finishing 52nd overall (82-85-167).
The Fordham golf team will now compete at the 2008 Atlantic 10 Championship, May 2-4, at the Orange County National Golf Course in Winter Garden, Fla.
