Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham's Brandon Abbatiello won at fourth singles over Eugene Tsarevskiy while teammate Peter Slucky was victorious over Matt Gross to record Fordham's two points the Rams fell to New York University, 5-2, in men's tennis action on the Hawthorn/Rooney Court on Wednesday. With the loss, the Rams fall to 1-10 on the year while NYU improves to 5-6.

Fordham opened the match by dropping the doubles point to NYU, dropping two of the three doubles matches. Dallas Harting and Pat Tool lost at first doubles to Mikhail Gurevich and Brett Levin, 8-4, while Austin Shoup and Abbatiello were upended at second doubles by NYU's Calvin Chou and Gross, 8-4. Ken Fukumoto and Nick Kelly won at third doubles for the Rams over Mike Greene and Phil Rosenstein by an 8-6 score.

Abbatiello won in straight sets at fourth singles over Tsarevskiy, 6-4 and 603, while Slucky also won in straight sets, winning 7-6 (7-1) in the first set and 6-3 in the second.

The Violets won the match by taking the other four singles matches with Gurevich taking first singles from Harting in straight sets (6-3, 6-1) while Shoup fell to Chou in second singles (6-1, 6-1) and Tool lost to Levin at third singles (6-3, 6-1). The Rams almost picked up another point at fifth singles as Sotiris Georgiou took the first set from P.J. Marranca, 6-4, before dropping a closely-contested second set, 7-6. Marranca then won the match with a 10-8 win in the tie-breaker.

The Rams will next be in action on Friday, April 5th as they travel to Monroeville, Pennsylvania, to compete in the 2008 Atlantic 10 Championships at the Club for Life. Fordham will open the tournament by facing St. Bonaventure at 8:00 a.m. on Friday.
