Philadelphia, Pa. -
Fordham's Austin Shoup defeated Saint Joseph's Nick Tuxen at second singles but that was the only point the Rams would get as they fell to the Hawks, 5-1, in a men's tennis match at Saint Joseph's. With the loss, the Rams fall to 1-14 on the year while Saint Joseph's improves to 6-14.
Shoup opened play at second singles losing the first set to Tuxen, 6-2, before battling back to take the second, 7-6. He then won the match with a 6-3 win in the third set.
The Rams also had two other singles matches go to three sets as Sotiris Georgiou dropped the first set of fifth singles to Mike Stauble, 6-3, before forcing a third set with a 6-4 win in the second. But in the third set Stauble came out victorious, 6-2.
At sixth singles, Peter Slucky took the first set from Brian Costello, 6-1, before losing the next two by identical 6-2 scores.
