Bronx, N.Y. - Hofstra's Stian Tvedt upended Fordham's Dallas Harting in straight sets at first singles while teammate Tytus Stempriewicz upended Austin Shoup at second singles to lead Hofstra to a 7-0 men's tennis win over Fordham on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts. With the loss, the Rams fall to 1-13 on the year while Hofstra improves to 8-9-1.

Fordham opened the match by dropping the doubles point to Hofstra, dropping all three doubles matches. Harting and Shoup lost at first doubles to Tvedt and Stempriewicz, 8-4, while Brandon Abbatiello and Pat Tool dropped second doubles to Andy Cha and Alex Hosner, 8-1 and Peter Slucky and Sotiris Georgiou were upended at third doubles by Matthew Wacks and Matthew Schwartz, 8-5.

The Pride then completed the shut out by taking all six singles matches. Two matches went to a tie-breaker with Abbatiello dropping the first set to Wacks at third singles, 6-2, before winning the second, 6-4, to force a tie-breaker. Abbatiello made a run for it in the tie-breaker before falling to Wacks, 11-9.

At fifth singles, Ken Fukumoto fell in the first set to Hosner, 6-3, before coming back to win the second set, 6-3. But Hosner was able to win the tie-breaker, 10-8.

Tvedt defeated Harting at first singles by scores of 6-3 and 6-0 while Stempriewicz took Shoup at second singles, 6-1 and 6-2. At fourth singles, Tool was bester by Cha in straight sets (6-2, 6-0) while Kevin Maloney fell to Schwartz, 6-3 and 6-0, at sixth singles.

The Rams will next be in action on Saturday, April 12th, as they travel to Lawrenceville, N.J., to face Rider University at 12:00 p.m.
