Bronx, N.Y. - Vassar's Mike Mattelson defeated Fordham's Dallas Harting in straight sets at first singles while teammate Max Willner upended Austin Shoup at second singles to lead Vassar to a 7-0 men's tennis win over Fordham on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts. With the loss, the Rams fall to 1-12 on the year while Vassar improves to 11-2.

Fordham opened the match by dropping the doubles point to Vassar, dropping two of the three doubles matches. Dallas Harting and Austin Shoup lost at first doubles to Greg Katz and Max Willner, 8-1, while Sotiris Georgiou and Peter Slucky dropped second doubles to Mike Mattelson and Ashish Patil, 8-5. Fordham's Ken Fukumoto and Nick Kelly won at third doubles over Jeremy Rosen and Josh Jasso at third doubles, 8-4.

The Brewers then completed the shut out by taking all six singles matches. Pat Tool almost picked up a win for the Rams at fourth singles, winning the first set from Patil, 7-5, before dropping the second, 7-6 (5). Tool then pushed Patil to the limit in the tie-breaker before falling 12-10.

Mattelson defeated Harting at first singles by scores of 6-3 and 6-1 while Willner took Shoup at second singles, 6-2 and 6-4. At third singles, Brandon Abbatiello was upended by Greg Katz in straight sets (6-2, 6-3) while Georgiou fell to Jeremy Rosen, 6-3 and 6-4, and Slucky fell to Josh Jasso at sixth singles, 6-3 and 6-0.

The Rams will next be in action on Thursday, April 10th, as they host Hofstra on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts at 3:00 p.m.
