Day One Results - Men

Boston, Mass. - The Fordham University men's and women's indoor track and field squads opened competition at the 2008 ECAC/IC4A Championships at the Reggie Lewis Track in Boston on Saturday with Melissa Salerno and one men's and one women's relay qualifying for the finals on Sunday.

On the women's side, Melissa Salerno placed third in the ECAC 1000m preliminaries in a season-best time of 2:53.19 to qualify for the finals on Sunday.

In relays, the 4x800 relay of Kathleen Reilly, Melissa Salerno, Catherine Groene and Kerri Gallagher placed ninth in a season-best time of 9:14.91 to qualify for the final on Sunday.

The men's distance medley relay of Matt Lowenthal, Michael Kearney, Clifton Hilario and Tom Finnerty placed fifth in the preliminaries in a season-best time of 9:55.0, qualifying the squad for the finals to be held on Sunday.

In the IC4A Championship, DiBuono placed sixth in the weight throw with a toss of 60' 8" while teammate Brian Mulkeen took 20th in the event with a throw of 53' 5.5".

Also competing in individual events for the Rams were Brian Schmidt and Brandon Ryan, who took 22nd (1:04.57) and 27th (1:05.07) in the 500m, respectively.

The women's distance medley relay will also be in action on Sunday as the Rams wrap up competition at the ECAC/IC4A Championships.
