Fordham's Bryant Dunston Named First Team NABC All-Region 2

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham University senior forward Bryant Dunston (Queens, N.Y./St. John's Prep) was named First Team NABC All-Region 2 it was announced today. Dunston is now eligible for the State Farm Division I All-America teams to be announced on April 5th at the 2008 NABC Convention in San Antonio.

Dunston is one of ten Atlantic 10 men's basketball student-athletes to earn All-Region honors. He joins of the First Team selections Will Daniels (District I) of Rhode Island, Massachusetts' Gary Forbes (District I), Saint Joseph's Pat Calathes (District III) and Brian Roberts (District X) of Dayton.

Named to the Second Team were Jimmy Baron of Rhode Island (District I), St. Bonaventure's Michael Lee (District II), Dionte Christmas (District III) of Temple, Saint Joseph's Ahmad Nivins (District III) and Drew Lavender (District X) of Xavier.

On the year, Dunston leads the Rams in scoring and rebounding, averaging 15.8 ppg and 10.0 rpg. He also leads the Atlantic 10 in rebounding and is ranked second in blocks (2.8 blocks/game) and field goal percentage (.526).

Over his career, Dunston has scored 1,794 career points and grabbed 970 career rebounds. He is in second place on the Fordham all-time scoring list and fourth place on the all-time rebounding list while also being the career leader in blocked shots with 288.

Located in Kansas City, Mo., the NABC was founded in 1927 by Forrest "Phog" Allen, the legendary basketball coach at the University of Kansas. Allen, a student of James Naismith, the inventor of basketball, organized coaches into this collective group to serve as Guardians of the Game. The NABC currently claims nearly 5,000 members consisting primarily of university and college men's basketball coaches. All members of the NABC are expected to uphold the core values of being a Guardian of the Game by bringing attention to the positive aspects of the sport of basketball and the role coaches play in the academic and athletic lives of today's student-athletes. The four core values of being a Guardian of the Game are advocacy, leadership, service and education.
