Philadelphia, Pa. -
Fordham freshman guard Megan Mahoney (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's) was selected to the Atlantic 10's All-Rookie Team, it was announced today by the conference. She is joined by Xavier's Ta'Shia Phillips, Saint Joseph's Sarah Acker, Richmond's Brittani Shells, and Dayton's Kristin Daughtery.
Mahoney is the first Fordham women's basketball player to be named to the Atlantic 10's All-Rookie Team, and just the seventh Ram to earn a postseason Atlantic 10 accolade.
"We are very proud of Megan's accomplishments this season. Being selected to the A-10 All-Rookie Team by the coaches in our league is a great honor for Megan and Fordham University," said head coach Cathy Andruzzi.
Mahoney was phenomenal in her first season with the Rams, leading the team in scoring at 15.4 points per game, three-point field goals (43), and steals (57). She was also second on the team in assists (50) and field goal percentage (.376). Among all freshmen, she ranked fifth in the NCAA in scoring, and first in the Atlantic 10. In conference play, Mahoney was second overall in the Atlantic 10 in both scoring (17.8 ppg) and steals (2.1 spg).
Throughout the season, Mahoney posted seven 20-point scoring performances and one 30-point game, as she netted double figure scoring in 25 of 29 games. She led the team in scoring a team-high 17 times, while adding the Rams' lone double-double of the season.
"Megan is a member of our first recruiting class. She was the first student-athlete I offered a scholarship to and the first to commit to our program last June," said Andruzzi. "She is a team player with great determination and passion for the game. She epitomizes the character and skill of the student-athlete we are building our program around."
"Megan set her sights on making the A-10 All Rookie Team in September and she made it! That's Mahoney - you gotta love her!"
