Bronx, N.Y. - Dominique Ligouri won at first singles and Catherine Kellner took second singles but those would be the only points won by Fordham as the women's tennis squad fell to Stony Brook, 5-2, on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts on Sunday. With the loss, Fordham falls to 4-8 on the year while Stony Brook improves to 4-7.

Liguori defeated Stony Brooks' Paola Rodolfi in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-1, while Kellner was victorious over Claudia Sanua, winning the first match 7-6 and the second 7-6 (12-10 in the tie-breaker).

Stony Brook opened the match by taking the doubles point, winning two of three matches. Liguori and Ellenoira Featherston teamed to take first doubles for Fordham from Sanua and Erica Federgreen, 8-1, but Stony Brook's Sandy Wijeratne and Rodolfi took second doubles from Martina Featherston and Catherine Kellner, 9-7, and Fanny Charliquart and Victoria Varsha won at third doubles for Stony Brook over Brittany Russell and Elizabeth Stall, 8-0.

The Seawolves took the match winning four of the six singles matches. Wijeratne defeated Ellenoira Featherston at third singles (6-2, 6-0), Martina Featherston lost at fourth singles to Federgreen (6-0, 6-3), Stall fell to Charliquart at fifth singles (6-0, 6-1) and Russell was denied at sixth singles by Varsha (6-1, 6-1).

Fordham will next be in action on Thursday, April 3rd, as the Rams travel to Newark, New Jersey, to face New Jersey Tech at 4:00 p.m.
