Fordham's Matt Lowenthal and Clifton Hilario Named Academic All-Atlantic 10 for Indoor Track & Field

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham University indoor track and field student-athletes Matt Lowenthal (East Meadow, N.Y./Kellenberg) and Clifton Hilario (Circleville, N.Y./Pine Bush) were named Academic All-Atlantic 10, in voting among the Conference's Sports Information Directors it was announced on Friday. This is the second straight year in which Lowenthal has earned academic honors from the conference and the first for Hilario.

This winter, Lowenthal, a Political Science major, was a member of the winning 4x800 relay at the 2008 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship, earning First Team All-Conference honors with the relay for the second consecutive season. He also earned Second Team All-Atlantic 10 accolades by taking second in the 1000m (2:29.58) at A-10s.

On the year, Lowenthal, who was also named Academic All-Atlantic 10 in 2007, clocked Fordham's fastest 800m (1:54.85), 1000m (2:29.37) and mile (4:13.19) indoor times in 2007-08, qualifying for the IC4A Championships in both the 1000m and the mile.

Hilario, an Accounting major, was also a member of the winning 4x800 relay at the 2008 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship, earning First Team All-Conference honors with the relay for the second consecutive season.

On the year, he has clocked Fordham's fourth fastest 400m (50.66) and 500m (1:06.08) times. He was also named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2006-07 and in the Fall 2007 semester.
