Women's Tennis Avenges Loss To Seton Hall

South Orange, N.J. - The Fordham women's tennis team avenged their loss to Seton Hall from last week, as they upended the Pirates, 4-3, on Saturday evening. With the win, Fordham is now 3-5 on the year.

With the match tied at three, Fordham's Elizabeth Stall pulled out a come from behind three-set win over Slavina Kaplonska at fifth singles to give Fordham the victory. Stall lost the first set, 0-6, but battled back to win the second set, 6-4, and the super-tiebreaker, 10-8, to earn the singles point.

She joined Dominique Ligouri and Catherine Kellner as singles' winners. Ligouri defeated Denise Liebschner, 6-4 and 7-5, at first singles, while Kellner won at second singles over Nadja Sheiun, 6-4 and 6-2.

Fordham started the match by taking the doubles point, as the Rams swept all three doubles matches. Ligouri paired with Ellenoira Featherston for an 8-5 win at first doubles, while Kellner and Martina Featherston had an 8-6 win at second doubles. Fordham completed the sweep of doubles, as Stall and Brittany Russell won 8-6 at third doubles.

The Fordham women's tennis team will next be in action on Friday, February 8th, as they host Massachusetts at 7:00 PM at the Saw Mill Club in Mt. Kisco, N.Y.
