Fordham's Trey Blue Named Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Rookie of The Week

Nov. 16, 2008

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham University freshman guard Trey Blue (South Holland, Ill./Thornwood (Brewster Academy)) was named Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the week ending November 15th. This is the first weekly award for Blue and the first Rookie of the Week honor for a Fordham player since Bryant Dunston received the award six times in 2004-05.

Blue opened his collegiate career with a game-high 24 points in Fordham's season-opening, 65-62, loss to Columbia in the Rose Hill Gym on Saturday night. He shot 8-for-15 from the field, including 6-for-11 from behind the arc, and added four assists and one steal.

The 24-point output for Blue is a Fordham record for points scored by a freshman in his debut. The previous record was 20, set by Dunston against St. Francis in 2004.

The Rams will next be in action on Monday night, November 17th, as they travel to Philadelphia to face Villanova University at 7:30 p.m.
