Fordham's Kevin Maloney pulled out a straight sets win at sixth singles over La Salle's Chris Botera to give the Rams a 4-3 victory over the Explorers on Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia, Pa. This was the Rams' first victory of the fall season in three matches (1-2).
The match didn't start well for Fordham, as La Salle won all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point.
Fordham, however, won four of six singles matches to win the overall match, 4-3. Fordham's Dallas Harting started the wins at second singles with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Andy Petereky, followed by a 6-4, 6-1 win by Brandon Abbatiello at third singles over Morgan Abrams.
Sotiris Georgiou then evened the match at three with a 6-4, 6-2 win at fifth singles over Fernando Toria. The match then came down to Maloney, who ousted Botera, 7-6 and 6-3, to give Fordham the win.
The Fordham men's tennis team will next be in action on Sunday, October 5th, as they host Wagner at 11:00 AM at the Hawthorn/Rooney Tennis Courts.
