Jan. 3, 2008

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham softball coach Bridget Orchard announced the signing of Lindsey Bright (Federal Way, Wash./Decatur), Jen Mineau (Schaghticoke, N.Y./Hoosic Valley Central), Nicole Callahan (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Township), and Jo Krasnisky (Doylestown, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph's Academy) to national letters of intent for the 2008-09 season.

"I am very excited about the incoming class for the spring 2009 season, as each is an excellent addition to our softball program," said Orchard.

Bright, an outfielder, is a varsity softball player at Decatur High School, where she was a two-time First Team SPSL selection, and three-time All-City pick. She was also named to the Colorado Sparkler All-Star team and Defensive team MVP twice. She plays for Coach Wayne Miller and the WA Ladyhawks Gold, and was a teammate of current Ram Erin Fisher. Bright helped the Ladyhawks to the ASA Gold Nationals, finishing in ninth place. Away from the field, she is a member of the National Honr Society and is the Senior Class Representative.

"Lindsey is an extremely fast slapper that knows how to get on base and has amazing outfield skills. We look for her to compete immediately," said Orchard.

Mineau, a pitcher, has been a member of the varsity team at Hoosic Valley Central School, where she posted an outstanding 2007 season. She was named All-State Class C Player and Pitcher of the Year after posting a 24-0 record with a 0.08 earned run average, 426 strikeouts, and five walks in 186 innings pitched. She was also named the Times Union Small School Player of the Year and Troy Record Player of the Year, as she helped her team to an undefeated Class C Championship. A three-time All-State selection in softball, Mineau has national experience, traveling with the NY Beach Girls select team under Coach Joe Botti, competing at the ASA Gold Nationals, placing 17th. Away from the field, she is a member of the National Honor Society, and was elected as president as a senior.

"Jen is a hard throwing pitcher who has dominated at the high school level, earning Player of the Year honors and a New York State Championship," said Orchard.

Callahan, a second baseman, is a four-year varsity starter for Freehold Township High School, where she already holds school marks for career triples and slugging percentage. A two-time captain, she is a three-time recipient of the varsity Gold Glove Award, and was named to the "All-Managers Team" by the Ashbury Park Press, as well as All-District in 2006. She has competed with the NJ Nightmares under Coach Dave Wheeler, which qualified and competed at the ASA Gold Nationals in Oklahoma City, after winning the 2007 ASA Sector Gold 18U Championship. Away from softball, Callahan has been involved with a number of volunteer activities, which includes teaching religious education, and participating in the "Locks of Love" and "Relay for Life" campaigns.

"Nicole is an aggressive player who is not afraid to get dirty. Her style of play is exciting to watch and we look forward to having her powerful lefty bat in the line-up," said Orchard.

Krasnisky, a utilty player that can play third base, pitcher, and outfield, is a varsity softball player at Mt. St. Joseph's Academy. As a junior, she earned All-Catholic and team MVP honors, while receving the coach's award as a sophomore, and rookie of the year honors as a freshman. She plays summer ball for PA Tuff-N-Tuffer Gold under Coach Roy Goddard and is the team captain this season.

"Jo is the ultimate utility player that will have the challenge of competing to fill the shoes of senior Allison Twarowski. She reminds me so much of Allie in that she can play anywhere on the field and has a tremendous work ethic," said Orchard.
