Philadephia, Pa. - Fordham freshman guard Megan Mahoney (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's) was named Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week for games through January 27th, it was announced today. It is her third Atlantic 10 honor this season, as she was named Rookie of Week in late December and earlier this month as well.

In two games this past week, Mahoney averaged 18 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals as Fordham continued conference play against St. Bonaventure and Duquesne. On Wednesday against the Bonnies, she netted team-highs of 15 points, seven rebounds, and three steals, while on Sunday, she scored a game-high 21 points to go with six rebounds and two steals versus the Dukes. It was her team-leading fifth 20-point game of the season.

Mahoney ranks as the top freshman scorer in the Atlantic 10 this season at 15.2 points per game, which is also good for eighth overall. She is also one of three Atlantic 10 freshmen to lead their team in scoring this season.

Mahoney and the rest of the women's basketball team will return to action on Wednesday, January 30th, as they play at Atlantic 10 opponent, the University of Massachusetts, beginning at 11:45 AM.
