The Fordham University men's basketball Rams will continue their 2008 Atlantic 10 home season as they host the Duquesne University Dukes on Saturday afternoon, January 19th, at 2:00 p.m. in the Rose Hill Gym. The game can be heard live on WFUV (90.7 FM) and on wfuv.org and will be televised on a delayed basis beginning at 4:00 p.m. on SportsNet NY.
The Rams enter the game with a 7-8 overall record, 1-2 in the Atlantic 10, and are coming off a 66-53 Atlantic 10 win over George Washington in the Rose Hill Gym on Wednesday night. Duquesne enters the game with an 11-4 overall record, 1-1 in the conference, and is coming off an 80-78 Atlantic 10 loss to 23rd-ranked Rhode Island in Kingston last Sunday.
Fordham will be led into the game by senior forward Bryant Dunston, a Queens native who was a Preseason First Team All-Atlantic 10 selection and who became the Rams' all-time blocked shots leader in the George Washington game (260). On the year, Dunston, who has recorded five straight double-doubles, is averaging 15.3 ppg and 8.9 rpg, both team highs, as he leads the conference in rebounding. Senior guard Marcus Stout is averaging 14.8 ppg for the Rams while leading the team in assists (45) and steals (21).
Duquesne is led by junior guard Kojo Mensah, a Brooklyn native who attended Bishop Loughlin High School who is averaging 14.3 ppg with a team-best 62 assists while junior forward Shawn James, another Brooklyn product, is averaging 13.9 ppg and 7.1 rpg while blocking a league-high 64 shots.
Saturday afternoon's game will be the 26th meeting between Fordham and Duquesne on the hardwood with the Dukes leading the all-time series, 14-11, including a 74-62 win in Pittsburgh on January 9th, a win which broke a five-game Fordham winning streak in the series.
