Track & Field Competes at NYU Gotham Cup

New York, N.Y. - The Fordham track & field team competed at the NYU Gotham Cup on Friday at the 168th St. Armory, where the Rams posted nine top ten finishes and two ECAC/IC4A qualifiers on the night.

Melissa Salerno qualified for the ECAC Championship in the 1000 meters, as she took fourth in 2:54.90, while the men's 4x400 relay, consisting of Brandon Ryan, Clifton Hilario, Michael Kearney, and Brian Schmidt, qualified for the IC4A Championship, as they tied for eighth in 3:19.79

Fordham freshman Kerri Gallagher was the lone event winner, as she took the unseeded 800 meter run in 2:21.29.

The Rams had a pair of second place finishes, as Brian Schmidt was second in the unseeded 800 meter run in 1:55.67, while Matt DiBuono was second in the weight throw with a toss of 59' 9 ½". Brian Mulkeen also finished high in the weight throw, placing fourth (54' 10").

In other relay action, the women's 4x400 team took tenth in 4:03.71, the men's distance medley relay took eighth in 10:44.03, and the men's 4x800 relay placed sixth in 7:58.13.

The Fordham track & field team will next be in action on Friday, January 25th, as they compete at the Terrier Classic in Boston, Massachusetts.
