Former West Virginia Forward Jacob Green Transfers to Fordham

Jan. 16, 2008

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham University head men's basketball coach Dereck Whittenburg announced today that former West Virginia University and Gonzaga High School forward Jacob Green (Clinton, Md./Gonzaga) has transferred to Fordham. Green, a 6' 9", 220-pound forward, will sit out the 2008 Spring and 2008 Fall semesters per NCAA transfer rules and will be eligible following the 2008 Fall semester. He will have two and one-half years of eligibility remaining.

"We are excited that Jacob has decided to come to Fordham," said Whittenburg. "We recruited him out of high school and believe he will be a wonderful addition to our program. He's a well-rounded individual and an excellent student. He will be a very valuable addition to our team next year, adding experience to what will be a young team."

After sitting out the 2006-07 season at West Virginia, Green appeared in ten games this year for the Mountaineers, scoring eight points (0.8 ppg) while grabbing 20 rebounds (2.0 rpg) and blocking four shots. His best game was a six-rebound, three-steal, two-block, two-point contest against Maryland-Eastern Shore on November 27th. Green was also named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll at West Virginia in 2005-06.

At Gonzaga High School in Washington, D.C., Green averaged 11 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks per game as a senior in 2005-06. He was named to the Washington Post Honorable Mention All-Metro team as well as being named Second Team All-Conference in the WCAC. Green was selected to play for the Capital All-Stars in the Capital Classic.

As a junior, Green averaged five points and five rebounds per game. He played AAU basketball for the I-270 Warriors.

The Rams will next be in action on Wednesday night as they host the George Washington University Colonials in the Rose Hill Gym at 7:00 p.m.
