Fordham Water Polo and Women's Soccer Enter Regional Rankings

Sept. 5, 2007

Bronx, N.Y. - After opening their regular season schedules this past weekend, both the Fordham water polo and women's soccer team enter their respective regional rankings this week.

The water polo team was the biggest mover in the Men's CWPA Top 10 Poll this week, jumping to #7, after not garnering a vote in the preseason poll. The jump was fueled by two impressive wins over George Washington University and Gannon University at the Navy Labor Day Invitational. For a full listing of this week's ranking, click here.

Looking to improve on last week, the water polo Rams will be put to the test this weekend at the Princeton Invitational, as they will face three of the top four CWPA teams in Navy (#10 nationally, #1 in the CWPA), Bucknell (#13 nationally, #3 in the CWPA), and Princeton (#15 nationally, #4 in the CWPA). Fordham will also have a re-match with George Washington this weekend as well.

The women's soccer team moved into the Soccer Buzz Magazine Northeast regional rankings at #15, this week, after receiving votes in the preseason poll. The Rams opened their season with a 1-0 win over Iona, courtesy of a goal by Katie Sanchez and three saves by Jen Byer. For a full listing of this week's ranking, click here.

The women's soccer team will look to improve their standing this weekend with a pair of road contest. They will play at Lafayette on Friday at 7:00 PM and at Manhattan on Sunday at 10:00 AM.
