Staten Island, N.Y. - Austin Shoup won at first singles and Brandon Abbatiello won at the second slot to lead Fordham University to a 7-0 men's tennis win over Wagner College on the Wagner Tennis Courts. With the win, the Rams improve to 1-3 on the year while the Seahawks fall to 1-2.

Fordham opened the match by taking the doubles point, winning all three doubles matches. Dallas Harding and Pat Tool picked up the win at first doubles, defeating Adam Amster and Byron Clohessy, 8-1, while Kendall Fukumoto and Nicholas Kelly teamed up for the Rams to take second doubles from John LeBlanc and Ben Serbiak (8-3). Fordham also won at third doubles when Kevin Maloney and Tolga Suvar shut out Wagner's Will Schuler and Sheldon Wilson, 8-0.

The Rams then won the match by sweeping singles play, with four of the six matches decided by straight sets. Shoup had to go overtime to defeat Amster at first singles, dropping the first set, 6-3, before winning the second, 6-3, and the third, 6-4. Abbatiello was victorious at second singles, as LeBlanc was forced to retire, while Sotiris Georgiou took third singles from Serbiak, 6-0 and 6-1.

Kevin Maloney picked up the win at fourth singles, 6-2 and 6-0, while Fukumoto didn't lose a game in sweeping Schuler at fifth singles (6-0 and 6-0) and Kelly took the sixth spot, defeating Wilson 6-0 and 6-2.

The Rams will next be in action on Wednesday, October 3rd as they host Concordia College on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts at 3:30 PM.
