Bronx, N.Y. - Dominique Ligouri won at first singles and Ellenoira Featherston took second singles to lead Fordham University to a 5-2 women's tennis win over Queens College on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts at Fordham. With the win, the Rams improve to 1-2 on the year while Queens falls to 4-1.

The Rams opened the match taking the doubles points, winning two of the three matches. Ligouri and Ellenoira Featherston teamed up to take first doubles from Alyssa Morra and Jessie Franklin, 8-0, while Catherine Kellner and Martina Featherston were victorious over Queens' Laura Mocodeanu and Kirby Reiss at second doubles by an 8-5 score. Jen Merideth and Maria Perevezentseva won at third doubles for Queens over Fordham's Brittany Russell and Kathryn Pando (8-6).

Fordham took the match by winning the first four singles matches as Ligouri took first singles in straight sets from Morra (6-0, 6-0) while Ellenoira Featherston had to work overtime to win at second singles over Mocodeanu, dropping the first set 6-2, before wining the second 6-3 and the tie-breaker, 10-8.

Kellner and Martina Featherston took third and fourth singles, respectively, in straight sets for the Rams, with Kellner upending Franklin (6-1, 6-1) and Martina Featherston defeating Reiss (6-1, 6-1).

The Knights picked up their two points at fifth and sixth singles with Merideth taking fifth singles from Russell (6-0, 6-0) and Perevezentseva winning at sixth singles over Pando (6-3, 6-3).

The Rams will next be in action on Saturday, October 6th as they host Saint Joseph's University on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts at 3:30 PM.
