Fordham's Christi Griffiths Named Atlantic 10 Volleyball Rookie of the Week

Philadelphia, Pa. - Fordham University freshman Christi Griffiths (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) was named Atlantic 10 Volleyball Rookie of the Week for the week ending September 23rd. This is Griffiths' second Atlantic 10 honor of the season.

Griffiths had another outstanding week for Fordham, hitting .565, while averaging 4.60 kills and 1.80 blocks per game. She opened the week by hitting .650 with 14 kills and eight blocks against 21st ranked St. John's on Tuesday. She then recorded her first career double-double with 19 kills and 10 blocks against George Washington on Friday, while hitting .452. Griffiths ended the week by hitting .667 with 13 kills versus Charlotte, as Fordham started Atlantic 10 play with a 2-0 record for the first time in program history.

Overall, Griffiths leads the Rams with a .335 hitting percentage, a 3.44 kills per game average, and a 1.27 blocking average.

Griffiths and the rest of the Fordham volleyball team (9-10, 2-0 Atlantic 10) will next be in action on September 25th, as they play at Stony Brook, beginning at 7:00 PM. The Rams then return home for conference matches against Xavier on Friday at 7:00 PM and against #16 Dayton on Saturday at 4:00 PM.
