Fordham Drops First Match of Day at Western New York Invitational

Buffalo, N.Y. - The Fordham University women's volleyball squad dropped its first match of the day at the Western New York Invitational held at Niagara University, falling to the University of South Florida, 3-1.

The Bulls took the first game of the match 30-25 before the Rams came back to win game two, 30-27, a game that saw eight ties and four lead changes. But South Florida dominated game three, leading from the start en route to a 30-13 win, and then closed out the match with closely contested 34-32 win in game four, a game which featured 12 ties and saw the Rams record a .302 hitting percentage.

Freshman Christi Griffiths led the Rams in the South Florida match, recording 16 kills and a .344 hitting percentage along with three block assists. Kailee May chipped in with 14 kills and nine digs for Fordham while Katherine Burrell added six kills and a team-high 42 assists and 19 digs.
