Bronx, N.Y. - Austin Shoup, Sotiris Georgiou and Brandon Abbatiello won singles matches for the Rams but it wasn't enough as Fordham fell to New Jersey Institute of Technology, 4-3, on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts. With the loss, the Rams fall to 0-2 on the year while the Highlanders even their record at 1-1.

The Rams opened the match by dropping the doubles point to the Highlanders, losing two of the three doubles matches. Dallas Harting and Pat Tool dropped first doubles to Anthony Tunnero and Cosmin Chiujdea, 8-3, while Georgiou and Abbatiello took Steve Erickson and Ramy Lawandy to a tie-breaker before falling, 9-8. Ken Fukumoto and Kevin Maloney were victorious at third singles for the Rams, defeating Doug Zytko and Tim Weiman, 8-3.

Fordham won the fourth through sixth singles matches with Shoup besting Lawandy at fourth singles (6-2, 6-1), Georgiou taking Sid Verma at fifth singles (6-0, 6-2) and Abbatiello winning at sixth singles (6-1, 6-1).

The Highlanders won the match with the three singles wins, all in straight sets. Erickson took first singles from Harting (6-0, 6-2) while Chiujdea won at second singles over Tool (6-4, 6-4) and Tunnero upended Peter Slucky at third singles (6-1, 6-2).

The Rams will next be in action on Saturday, September 29th as they travel to Philadelphia to face La Salle University at 11:00 a.m.
