Fordham's Matt Loucks Named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham University junior free safety Matt Loucks (Port St. Lucie, Fla./South Fork) was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week it was announced today. He becomes the second straight Ram to earn Defensive Player of the Week honors, joining teammate Isiejah Allen who won the award last week.

In Fordham's 23-20 loss to the University at Albany on Saturday, Loucks recorded a career-high 26 tackles, 14 solo, for the Rams. The 26 tackles is an unofficial school record and is just two shy of the Patriot League record set in 1990 by Lehigh's Lee Picariello against William & Mary.

On the year, Loucks leads the Rams with 32 total tackles, 16 solo, while he also has one tackle for a loss.

The Rams (1-1) will next be in action on Saturday, September 15th, as they host the Columbia University Lions on Jack Coffey Field at 6:00 pm in the annual battle for the Liberty Cup.
