May 1, 2007

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham University women's tennis student-athletes Dominique Liguori (Hartsdale, N.Y./The Ursuline School) and Ellenoria Featherston (St. Francis Prep/Rockaway Park) were named All-Atlantic 10 today with Liguori being named to the first team and Featherston to the second in voting conducted among the Conference's head coaches following the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship.

The two become the first Fordham women's tennis players to earn All-Conference honors since Christina Papa in 2004. Additionally, senior Doina Sandor (Bucharest, Romania/Colegiul National Tudor Vianu) was named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team.

On the year, Liguori, a sophomore, went 12-1 at first singles, while also compiling a 10-2 doubles record at first doubles with Featherston. She was a perfect 10-0 in the spring. Featherston, a junior, compiled an 8-4 record at second singles in 2006-07.

Liguori also competed at the USTA Women's Open Singles Tournament held at the USTA National Tennis Center for the fourth time and, for the third time, she won a national silver ball, finishing as the national runner-up. This year, Liguori received the silver ball after finishing as runner-up to Maryland's Eleanor Peters, in the finals.

Sandor, who has the highest GPA of any Fordham student-athlete, was 5-7 on the season playing at third singles and 4-9 at second doubles. The International Political Economy major was also named Academic All-Atlantic 10 last spring. The Rams finished the 2006-07 season with a 6-8 record and a tenth place finish at the 2007 Atlantic 10 championship.
