STACIA KROETZ AND JENNIFER ROUSSIL NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-ATLANTIC 10

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham University senior rowers Stacia Kroetz (Hudson, N.Y./Taconic Hills) and Jennifer Roussil (Gaithersburg, Md./Georgetown Visitation) were named to the 2007 Atlantic 10 Women's Rowing All-Academic Team it was announced today. Voting was conducted among the Conference's sports information directors. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average and be an important part of the team.

Kroetz, an Accounting major, and Roussil, an International Political Economy major, are members of the Fordham Varsity 8, which successfully defended its Spring Metropolitan title at the Orchard Beach Lagoon last weekend. The Varsity 8 also won the Fall Metropolitan title and the Manhattan Invitational gold medal, as well as finishing third at the 2007 Atlantic 10 Championship and fifth at the Murphy Cup.

This marks the third straight year in which Roussil was named to the All-Academic team and the first time for Kroetz.

Both rowers have also been honored academically in the past as each was admitted to Alpha Sigma Nu, the Jesuit honor society in the spring of 2006. They both also received a Collegiate Rowing Association National Scholar-Athlete Award last spring. Roussil, who is serving as president of Alpha Sigma Nu, was also recently inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society, a the oldest undergraduate honors organization in the United States.
