USL News Release (www.uslsoccer.com) - Tampa, Fla. - United Soccer Leagues announced the USL Premier Development League Team of the Week for the ninth week of the USL season, honoring Westchester's Kevin Meyer (Fordham University) as Player of the Week.
Playing in a tough division with the unbeaten Cape Cod Crusaders and the one-loss Long Island Rough Riders, the Westchester Flames extended their unbeaten streak to four games to stay within the playoff chase with an explosion of offense in a stunning 10-2 drubbing of the Vermont Voltage. Midfielder Kevin Meyer has been an integral part of the recent run and started the fireworks Sunday night with the first two goals in the seventh and 13th minutes. He then set up Dan Shapiro in the 20th for what proved to be the winner at the final whistle.
Josh Trott and Shapiro dominated the scoring as the Flames continued to dominate the Voltage defense and after two Vermont goals late in the match, Meyer connected with Chris Megaloudis in the 82nd and completed his hat-trick to complete the night in the 90th.
