FORDHAM'S CHRIS KAIBLE NAMED LOUISVILLE SLUGGER NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK BY COLLEGIATE BASEBALL

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham junior catcher/designated hitter Chris Kaible (Howard Beach, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) was one of five players named Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball it was announced today.

Kaible also garnered Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career on Monday as well.

Kaible swung the hottest bat in the Rams' line-up this past week, as Fordham averaged over 12 runs a contest in four games. He batted .471 on the week (8-for-17) with the first four home runs of his career and 14 RBI, while also posting a 1.235 slugging percentage and two grand slam home runs.

Kaible began the week by hitting his first career home run in style against Iona on Tuesday, as it was a grand slam in a 15-3 win over the Gaels. Then on Friday in Richmond, he crushed two home runs, including another grand slam, and collected seven RBI in a 16-10 victory over the Spiders. On Saturday in Richmond, he capped his power stretch with three hits, including a three-run home run.

Kaible and the Fordham baseball team are now 23-18 overall and 11-7 in the Atlantic 10, heading into this week's action. The Rams will play at Manhattan College on Tuesday, May 1st at 3:30 PM, and then begin a three-game series at home against Temple University from May 4-6.
