Bronx, N.Y. -
(July 19, 2007) - Fordham University senior Stacia Kroetz (Hudson, NY/Taconic Hills) closed out an award-winning career at Rose Hill by receiving the Kareem El-Rafei Global Learning Opportunities and Business Experiences (G.L.O.B.E.) Program Award and the CBA Alumni Association Award prior to graduation ceremonies in May.
The G.L.O.B.E. Program at Fordham teaches students business skills and provides a broad understanding of the countries in which they may one day serve.
The two awards add to a long list of achievements for Kroetz in 2006-07. At the 2007 Block F Awards Dinner she received the Benedict T. Harter Award as the College of Business Administration senior athlete who has made significant academic and athletic contributions. The award honors Ben Harter, CBA `39, a former dean of both Fordham undergraduate and graduate schools of business, who was an avid follower and supporter of Fordham Athletics dating back to his undergraduate years.
Additionally, Kroetz was named a Mid-Atlantic Region National Scholar-Athlete by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA). The award recognizes student-athletes with a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher that competed in 75 percent of her team's 2007 spring races. Also, the student-athletes must be upperclassmen (sophomore, junior or senior) in terms of eligibility and their head coaches must be good standing members of the CRCA. This marks the second straight year in which Kroetz was named a CRCA National Scholar-Athlete.
Kroetz, an Accounting major, was a member of the Fordham Varsity 8 in 2006-07, which successfully defended its Spring Metropolitan title at the Orchard Beach Lagoon on April 28th. The Varsity 8 also won the Fall Metropolitan title and the Manhattan Invitational gold medal, as well as finishing third at the 2007 Atlantic 10 Championship, fifth at the Murphy Cup and seventh in the Grand Final at the Dad Vail Regatta.
Kroetz have also been honored academically in the past, being admitted to Alpha Sigma Nu, the Jesuit honor society in the spring of 2006 and being named Academic All-Atlantic 10 this spring.
