May 4, 2007

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham University head football coach Tom Masella announced today the captains for the 2007 season, a season in which the Rams will celebrate the 125th anniversary of the first Fordham football team. Serving as team captains this fall will be Michael Breznicky (Scarsdale, NY/Eastchester), Earl Hudnell (West Palm Beach, FL/Suncoast), Michael Nardone (Pittstown, PA/Pittstown Area), Sam Orah (Gaithersburg, MD/Gaithersburg) and Dominique Owens (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills).

Breznicky, a center, and Nardone, a right guard, were the only two Rams to start every game on the offensive line in 2006. They anchored a line that, at times, featured two freshman starters, and was hit by a rash of injuries.

Hudnell, who started last year in the defensive backfield before moving linebacker, was second on the 2006 squad with 59 total tackles, 37 solo, including three for a loss and two sacks. He also intercepted two passes and recovered one fumble.

Orah, a defensive back, was the lone Fordham defensive back to start all eleven games last fall. He finished the year with 44 total tackles, third best on the team, including 1.5 for a loss and one sack. He also registered a team-high seven pass breakups as well as an interception.

Owens appeared in all eleven games for the Rams in 2006, starting the final seven at inside linebacker. He accumulated 38 total tackles, 19 solo, including two for a loss and two sacks. He also deflected three passes.

The Rams will open the 2007 season on Saturday, September 1st as they travel to Kingston, R.I. to face the University of Rhode Island Rams at 1:00 p.m.
