Fordham's Matt Lowenthal Named to the Atlantic 10 Men's Track & Field All-Academic Team

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham University's Matt Lowenthal (East Meadow, N.Y./Kellenberg) was named to the 2007 Atlantic 10 Men's Track and Field Academic All-Conference team, in voting conducted among the Conference's sports information director. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average and be an important part of the team.

Lowenthal, a Business Administration major, scored for Fordham at the 2007 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship with a fourth-place showing in the 800m (1:58.16) while being a member of the gold-medal winning 4x800 relay team. He also qualified for the IC4A Indoor Championship, taking 15th in the 1000m.

Lowenthal recorded the fastest 800m (1:55.55) and 1000m (2:28.22) times for the Rams indoors in 2006-07 and was named the team's MVP.

Outdoors, Lowenthal finished 11th in the 800m at the 2007 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championship and was a member of the 4x800 relay squad that placed third and qualified for the IC4A Championship. He has registered the fastest 800m time (1:55.70) and the second best 1500m (4:00.98) time on the team this spring.
