Bronx, N.Y. - The 73rd annual Block F Awards dinner was held last night at the Villa Barone Manor, honoring Fordham University's student-athletes for their accomplishments in the 2006-07 academic year.
Among those honored were Matt Lowenthal (East Meadow, N.Y./Kellenberg), who was named Most Valuable Player of the men's indoor track & field squad, and Matt DiBuono (New Rochelle, N.Y./Iona Prep) and Matt Spaccarelli (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay), who were co-winners of the outdoor track & field MVP.
Lowenthal who was the Rams' top runner in the middle-distance events, posting the school's top time in the 800 (1:55.55) and 1000 meter (2:28.22) events as well as the mile run. He capped the season finishing 15th in the 1000 meters at the IC4A championships.
DiBuono, who was Fordham's top performer in the throwing events, won the Atlantic 10 title in the hammer throw at the 2007 Championship, while setting the school's hammer throw record at the Penn Relays with a distance of 190' 2".
Spaccarelli wrapped up his final season as a Ram as an Atlantic 10 champion, capturing the conference's decathlon title with a school record point total of 6,171 points.
