Bronx, N.Y. - The 73rd annual Block F Awards dinner was held last night at the Villa Barone Manor, honoring Fordham University's student-athletes for their accomplishments in the 2006-07 academic year.
Among those honored was Ryan Coombs (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy) who was named Most Valuable Player of the men's swimming squad.
Coombs, a freshman, was a four-time Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week selection, and capped his season by being the high scoring Rookie at this year's Atlantic 10 championship. He garnered First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors in the 500 freestyle and Second Team honor in the 200 freestyle while also being selected as the 2007 Atlantic 10 Most Outstanding Rookie.
The men's swimming and diving team finished the year with a 4-5 dual meet record and a sixth place showing at the 2007 Atlantic 10 Championship.
