Bronx, N.Y. - The 73rd annual Block F Awards dinner was held last night at the Villa Barone Manor, honoring Fordham University's student-athletes for their accomplishments in the 2006-07 academic year.
Among those honored was Caitlin Napoli (Hauppauge, NY / St. Anthony's) who was named Most Valuable Player of the women's swimming squad.
Napoli, a freshman, had an outstanding first season with Fordham, earning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors four times. She garnered First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors in the 200 freestyle and Second Team accolades in the 100 backstroke and 200 butterfly. On the year, she set school records in the 200 freestyle (1:51.71) and 200 butterfly (2:04.44) and was a member of the 800 freestyle relay team (7:38.98).
The women's swimming and diving team finished the year with an 8-1 dual meet record and a third place showing at the 2007 Atlantic 10 Championship, Fordham's best ever finish at the championship.
