Caitlin Napoli (Hauppuage, NY/St. Anthony??s) and
Ryan Coombs (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) were selected as Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Rookies of the Week, for the week ending February 5th. This is Napoli??s third weekly award of the season, and the fourth for Coombs.
Napoli won three events and was a part of the winning 200 medley relay on Saturday, as Fordham defeated Massachusetts, 170-128, for just the second time in team history. She placed first in the 200 freestyle (1:53.06), 100 butterfly (58.70), and the 200 butterfly (2:05.13) events. She also joined Kristin Colton, Nicole Marshall, and Tressa Dunn to win the 200 medley relay in 1:49.62.
Coombs was also a dual event winner in a 192.5-104.5 loss to Massachusetts on Saturday. He captured first in the 100 freestyle (47.81) and the 200 freestyle (1:43.93). He was also a member of the 200 medley relay team that took third in 1:37.38.
The Fordham Swimming & Diving teams will next be in action on February 7th, as they host St. Francis College, beginning at 6:00 PM.
