(February 24, 2007) ?C Fordham University freshman swimmer Ryan Coombs (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) was named the 2007 Atlantic 10 Most Outstanding Rookie following the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships held from February 21-24 at the Flickinger Center in Buffalo. Coombs placed first in the 500-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 4:33.48 at the championships, while also adding a silver medal in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing in 1:41.22, just 0.46 seconds behind the winner. He also placed fourth in the 1,650-yard freestyle (16:04.41) and was a member of the 200 medley relay which took seventh, the 800 freestyle relay that finished eighth in a season-best time of 6:59.20 and the 400 freestyle relay that placed ninth in a season-best time of 3:07.94. On the season, Coombs turned in the fastest 200 (1:41.22), 500 (4:33.48), 1000 (9:48.47) and 1650 freestyle (16:04.41) times. The Rams finished sixth in the nine-team field.
