(February 13, 2006) - Fordham senior guard Lisa Carrol (Stockholm, Sweden/Tibble Gymnasium) was selected to the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District I Second Team, as voted upon by district sports information directors. She is one of six Atlantic 10 women's basketball players to earn Academic All-District honors this year. Carrol, an International Business major, boasts the highest GPA of any basketball player at Fordham, and was one of six women??s basketball players honored at the Breakfast of Champions, a Fordham event for all athletes with a cumulative GPA over 3.0. She has also been accepted to graduate school at the London School of Business. On the court, Carrol has been one of the premier scorers in the Atlantic 10 this season. A preseason All-Atlantic 10 selection, she is currently tied for third in the league in scoring at 17.1 points per game. She is also ranked in the top 15 in free throw percentage (4th), assists (10th), three-point field goals made (11th), assist-to-turnover ratio (12th), and minutes played (2nd). In addition, she has been named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week once this season, while being named to the PrestoSports/MBWA Basketball Honor Roll three times. Carrol, who was also named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll this week, has also scored 20 points or more in nine games this season, and is tied for third in the conference in this category. Carrol and the Fordham Women??s Basketball team will next be in action on Saturday, February 17th, as they host La Salle University at the Rose Hill Gym, beginning at 2:00 PM. The game will be nationally televised on CSTV.
