Fordham University's Courtney Fedge (Bellport, N.Y./Bellport) and Kate McDermott (Tucson, Ariz./Catalina Foothills) were honored by Soccerbuzz.com today with Fedge being named Second Team All-Northeast Region and McDermott being named to the Northeast Region's All-Freshman team.
Fedge, a sophomore defender, was a First Team NSCAA All-Northeast pick and Second Team All-Atlantic 10 selection earlier this year. She helped Fordham post a single season school record 0.84 goals against average this season, which included seven shutouts. Offensively, she posted two goals and three assists for seven points, and helped Fordham to the Atlantic 10 Championship game for the second straight season.
McDermott, a freshman midfielder, was named Third Team All-Northeast Region by the NSCAA as well as to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie and Second Team All-Conference in 2007. She stepped into the line-up immediately in her first season, playing in all 20 games, starting 19. She was the top freshman scorer on the Rams with four goals and two assists for ten points, while helping the Rams' defense record seven shutouts. She was also named to the All-Championship team at the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
The Rams finished the 2007 season with a 10-5-5 overall record, 7-1-3 in the Atlantic 10. Fordham advanced to the Atlantic 10 Championship game for the second straight year this fall, falling to Charlotte in the title game, 3-2.
